we've come so far
It was not a pleasant trip. But there was little left for him in the world from which he fled and it would be easy to hide in the mortal realm. He had learned so much of it in the years he spent among the humans, blending in wasn't even a challenge.
The only challenge came in its unpleasant memories. Too many reminders plagued the city streets and the wilderness was vastly uncomfortable and while the solitude had its advantages it also had its disadvantages so in the end Loki preferred to live in physical comfort rather than mental repose.
He knew he would come to regret it sooner or later. The throne had been comfortable, too, but it had not lasted. Nothing ever did.
When the reunion happened by chance, he knew it was the Fates punishing him for what he had done. He was surprised at first but then the mortals always did tend to defy logic. He settled into a calm, detached demeanor and eyed the fleshy ghost with a cautious intrigue.
"Some things never do change, do they." It was accompanied by a slight smirk, wry and sardonic.
